Update from the Wardviolins.com workshop

I spent Friday working on the scroll for the Gasparo da Salo model viola I am making for professional player. The first photo, below, shows the peg box being cut out. The process is about one third complete now that this rough work has been done.

I have also recently finished a conductor's baton for a well known cellist and conductor. This is the first baton I have made. The challenge was to make the balance, weight and flexibility exactly as the conductor wants, these criteria vary enormously from baton to baton. This baton weighs 22 grams with the balance point just in front of the bulb, leaving a feeling of no weight in the hand.
