This is the back of one of two violas I am currently finishing. The model is the small Gasparo da Salo violas that I regularly make, due to ongoing demand for them. This viola is the thirtieth of this model I have made. Many of them are in professional use. The wood is the same as the last one made, and which is now in one of the country's leading orchestras. The back is English Sycamore which makes excellent violas. The decorative purfling is part of the original design.
The second viola is  16", 405mm back, instrument with back and sides from some beautiful Poplar.
Both instruments will be available in early January.

The new Ladies size Guarneri del Gesu model violin. This violin will be strung this weekend. More photos to follow.
