This is the new seven-eigths size violin. The fiddle is based on the 1734 Guarneri del Gesu " Le Violon du Diable", though there is little devilish about this one or the original one! The varnish is a lovely red, with great visual depth and reflectivity; it made from Amber with a smaller amount of colophony, and cooke with linseed oil. It has the very full sound of a normal size instrument; indeed at 348mm back, it is only two mm shorter than the original Guarneri at 350mm.
