Back to serious work after a couple of days (ice) skating on the Welney washes in the Fens. A rare treat, what with the warmer winters we have had these last few years, but wonderful. I christened my new racing skates at last.
I finished a new fiddle today, a late Guarneri del Gesu model. It has a very good, and carrying sound, with a very large dynamic range. It is currently for sale.
Viola no.96 is progressing. The front and back archings are now done - see photo - and the scroll cut out ready to carve. The wood has a very good texture and should sound well.
