This is the back of the Heifetz Del Gesu. The varnish appears lighter in this this shot than the previous post as it is taken at a different angle. When tilted forwards, this varnish appears redder.

In the workshop, I have completed the ground coat ( see the varnish section of my website ) on my latest violin, and it is drying fully before the varnish proper is applied in a couple of weeks time. This violin will have an "antiqued" varnish.

Hot News: The "My Space" article in the Strad magazine features my workshop in the December edition.
